Physical Description

Large peach-colored bird. The Moluccan has the definitive cockatoo crest - the crest is a deep peach color. There are also white Moluccan Cockatoos, however they are rare.

The Moluccan becomes very affectionate after a short time. They are known to be good talkers.

UMBRELLA COCKATOO

Physical Description

Large white bird. The white crest is very large and white. Small females weigh as little as 400g, and large males as much as 700g.

GOFFIN COCKATOO

Physical Description

Goffin Cockatoos are smaller in size. A rather quiet bird. White in color and has a peach color on each side of the beak. Excellent family bird.

Trainability:
The Goffin is one of the smartest of all the cockatoos. It has a very gentle disposition.

Loudness:
Goffins are very quiet.

CITRON COCKATOO

Physical Description

Citron Cockatoos are the most distinctive subspecies of the Lesser Sulphur-crested with the crest orange and the ear coverts yellow - a very beautiful contrast with the white plumage.

They are found on the island of Sumba, in Indonesia.

Trainability:
These birds can be taught to talk and whistle. They can also be taught tricks. Although they aren't as good speakers as Greys, they can speak.

ROSE-BREASTED COCKATOO

Physical Description

Male: Front, crest, lores, and occiput white interspersed with pink; wings, back, and tail gray; cheek area, ear coverts, and nape rosy red; breast and belly pink; lower belly and under tail coverts pale gray; reddish carunculate eye ring; beak horn-colored; feet gray; iris dark brown to black. Female: similar in color to male, but with less pronounced eye ring and a red brown iris.

Origin:
One of the most widespread of Australia's parrots, being found in all states. It is only absent from the most arid country and from the tip of Cape York.

Trainability:
Make an excellent pet, with even wild caught young birds capable of becoming affectionate and friendly birds. They are extremely playful and intelligent birds, which, like most cockatoos, need constant stimulation with toys to play with, and objects to chew, to keep them from getting bored.

Loudness:
They are not noisy. Both sexes can become good talkers, possibly with the males being somewhat better. They are very family oriented.

LESSER SULFER CRESTED COCKATOO

Physical Description

Large white bird with the definitive cockatoo crest. Lesser sulfur crests are small, have yellow crests & cheek patches, and their Latin name is Cacatua sulphurea sulphurea. Citron crested cockatoos are a subspecies of the lesser; they have the orange crest & cheek patches.
